Role Purpose

Reliability Specialist for the Bruce, Keith & Rhum assets responsible for the following:
  • Actively maximise production uptime for BKR facilities and drive asset reliability improvement
  • Eliminate defects to prevent recurrence of equipment failures
  • Implement and optimise the Asset Reliability Strategy
  • Implement and optimise the BKR Condition Monitoring strategy
  • Through coaching and mentoring, build capability in Serica Energy organisation to proactively eliminate defects
  • Share best practice and learnings across Serica Energy and provide Reliability Engineering support for non-operated assets where required

Areas of Responsibility

Geographical Span: Serica Assets- UKCS

Budgetary Responsibilities: Manages reliability and condition monitoring budget

Direct Reports: No

Travel Required: Offshore platform visits as required

Main Tasks

Please note that this list of duties is not exhaustive and employees will be expected to undertake reasonable duties commensurate of their role and grade.
  • Analyse equipment failures to determine root causes and identifies changes required to prevent recurrence and improve facility costs and productivity
  • Responsible for facilitating Defect Investigations for significant production deferrals, vulnerabilities and plant trips, and ensuring the quality of the output
  • Responsible for acting as a subject matter expert on Defect Investigation
  • Responsible for identifying significant Production Deferrals and Production Vulnerabilities, and developing/managing cost-effective reliability improvement actions
  • Responsible for engaging the relevant discipline specialists in defect investigations for significant production deferrals, vulnerabilities or plant trips
  • Responsible for implementing the BKR Condition Monitoring strategy
  • Responsible for performing reliability analysis on the system using trends, surveillance data and condition monitoring data, and reporting agreed performance metrics
  • Responsible for analysing trends from available software and taking corrective action as needed
  • Recommends maintenance, monitoring or spares improvements to increase availability
  • Responsible for ensuring awareness of industry best practice and participating in reliability industry forums
  • Responsible for sharing lessons with any proposed projects or modifications to prevent negative impacts on system reliability
  • Responsible for ensuring personal competency development tasks are completed

Professional Skills

  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex technical problems using formal techniques to evaluate systems, equipment and processes
  • Possesses expertise in the principles of root cause analysis (RCA) and reliability availability maintainability (RAM) modelling to create an environment of continuous asset reliability improvement
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage with multi-disciplinary teams, support contractors and vendors to explain complex technical issues
  • Demonstrates creative thinking and problem solving including generating innovative solutions
  • A track record in delivering performance against demanding targets
  • Demonstrable track record in previous similar role
  • Experience of Offshore or On Site working environment preferred
  • Rotating equipment experience
  • Contractor management experience

Education Requirements

  • Degree qualified in relevant Engineering discipline
  • A Chartered or professional engineer registered with a recognised body
  • Current offshore survival, medical and MIST certification
  • Maximo experience
