Role Purpose

Operations Petroleum Engineer is responsible for the daily management and reporting of well stock and ultimately maximising the recovery from the asset. This happens by:
  • Optimisation of production from the existing well stock within reservoir, well, plant and export constraints through regular well reviews and surveillance
  • Identification and progression of well production and upstream enhancement opportunities

Main Tasks

Please note that this list of duties is not exhaustive and employees will be expected to undertake reasonable duties commensurate of their role and grade.
  • Act as focal point in the ACE (Advanced Collaborative Environment) Team, responsible for operational petroleum engineering support to the asset
  • Identify and pursue production/injection optimisation opportunities within Serica Energy operating and safety policies
  • Provide technical support to wellwork and upstream activities
  • Provision of short term forecasts to partners
  • Interface closely with the Subsurface / Wells / Topsides teams
  • Participate in asset deferrals review meetings, influence the validation of reservoir and well deferrals and identify options for eliminating future losses
  • Ensure deferrals allocated to the reservoir and well chokes are coded accurately.
  • Manage field offtake restrictions when they occur
  • Optimising production within safety and operational constraints
  • Ensure adherence to Serica Energy operating policies
  • Monitoring well performance and system performance for production restoration/enhancement opportunities
  • Provision of short term production targets
  • Perform regular Asset Well Reviews
  • Maintain Asset Performance data

Added responsibilities for Opportunity Progression PE

  • Prioritise opportunities and maintain wellwork hopper
  • Generates SORs (Statement of Requirement) for all well activities
  • Provide support in the execution of well activities
  • Lead the preparation process and implementation of Well Reviews
  • Generate annual surveillance plans
  • Provision of Hydrocarbon Accounting support in relation to well performance
  • Provide Petroleum Engineering support to the new well delivery process
  • Update and control well PROSPER models
  • Support the reservoir engineer in 8Q production forecast
  • Lead 5-why and Root Cause Failure analysis for Reservoir and Well deferrals
  • Prepare input for partners meetings and annual production reports (OGA etc.)
  • Provide information for 3rd party studies and take part in same 

Professional Skills

Essential:
  • Good theoretical and practical background in petroleum engineering
  • Good knowledge of Static Well Engineering software such as Petroleum Experts Prosper
  • Familiarity with PVT analysis & interpretation
  • Familiarity with production chemistry
  • Familiarity with well and plant optimisation strategies
  • Experience and understanding of offshore production and well intervention operations, facilities optimisation and artificial lift
  • Good understanding of well and completion construction and architecture
  • Good understanding of well integrity
Desirable:
  • Good knowledge of industry-standard Petroleum Engineering software such as: Petroleum Experts suite (GAP, PVTp and MBal);
  • Familiarity with rock mechanical issues associated with hydraulic fracturing
  • Familiarity with cased hole logging principles and application
  • Familiarity with metering principles and application
  • Good awareness of latest industry innovations and technology

Education Requirements

Essential:
  • Degree in Petroleum Engineering or relevant disciplines (Chemical engineering, Applied physics)
Desirable:
  • Master degree in Petroleum Engineering
