Role Purpose

  • Drive asset reliability improvements for responsible equipment areas
  • Onshore focal point providing technical support to offshore operations and maintenance for all rotating equipment
  • Onshore focal point providing technical guidance to onshore maintenance planning and execution team
  • Work in colloboration with onshore Engineering support team
  • Effective contract and budget management of nominated contracts

Budgetary Responsibilities: Yes – contract holder for core rotating equipment

Main Tasks

Please note that this list of duties is not exhaustive and employees will be expected to undertake reasonable duties commensurate of their role and grade.
  • Provide specialist machinery engineering advice and recommendations to Operations and Maintenance on both day to day matters, responding to plant operational events and also long- term strategic direction and prioritisation.
  • Provide technical support to equipment maintenance campaigns, commissioning and restart
  • Support other engineering disciplines by performance or review of complex or non-routine calculations and analysis that require deep discipline knowledge
  • Provide support for high risk discipline-related MOCs or deviation requests to discipline technical practices
  • Participate in design reviews for small projects & modifications
  • Review suitability of equipment for current operating conditions, and propose modifications/re- rates
  • Provide REE expertise for incident investigations, RCA, FMEA, and development of performance standards.
  • Measure equipment reliability, identify recurrent defects, propose modifications
  • Review equipment condition monitoring, vibration monitoring, and remote monitoring data and recommend corrective actions
  • Provide guidance for risk management of deviations from normal operating conditions
  • Provide local REE interface support for brownfield Projects.
  • Provide REE expertise to support Fit for Service barrier evaluations, gap closure plans and improvements
  • Ensure relevant performance standards are fit for purpose, and are complied with
  • Carry out self-verification of performance standard in accordance with written scheme of examination
  • Provide REE support for retirement, creation, or revision of site-specific engineering specifications
  • Provide REE technical input and review of complex, non-routine engineering procurement packages
  • Act as budget responsible person and contract holder for REE technical and maintenance services contracts, including vendor performance management
  • Provide REE market intelligence and propose changes to contract or procurement structure
  • Provide REE technical support for Procurement and vendor/fabricator quality issues resolution
  • Participate in technical and commercial negotiations for high value REE contracts and procurement
  • Review maintenance backlog and drive prioritisation of scopes within the execution schedule
  • Identify opportunities for safety improvement, optimization and risk reduction.
  • Support hazard identification and risk assessment studies associated with revalidations, small projects, or modifications for existing assets (e.g., MoCs, HAZOPs, LOPAs, HAZIDs, Human Factors Analysis and What-Ifs).
  • Support or action assigned actions associated with HAZOP/LOPA findings, audit findings, and complex engineering studies
  • Review equipment manufacturer’s safety bulletins for applicability and lead implementation
  • Support REE learning by reviewing relevant incidents from Serica or industry and proactively share lessons
  • Support REE training, mentoring, and development
  • Inputs to Engineering activities to 8Q Functional plan
  • Create and maintain a major maintenance plan for main rotating equipment
  • Inputs to Engineering team work priorities in line with risk, regulatory requirements, commercial impacts, etc 

Professional Skills

Essential:
  • Demonstrable track record in previous similar role
  • Extensive machinery / rotating equipment engineering experience in an operational environment
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage with multidisciplinary teams to explain complex technical issues
  • Knowledge of Maintenance & Reliability Management
  • Knowledge of Operational Asset Work Planning and Scheduling
  • Knowledge of offshore regulatory requirements, technical codes/ standards/ guidelines
  • Strong IT skills

Education Requirements

Essential:
  • Degree qualified in Engineering discipline
  • A Chartered or professional engineer registered with a recognised body
Desirable:
  • Current offshore survival, medical and MIST certification
  • Maximo experience
