Role Purpose

The JV Accountant will be core to the finance team ensuring that internal controls and joint operating agreements are correctly applied, transactions are booked accurately, payments made on time and reports can be generated for internal management and external partner requirements.
 
The role will support the acquisition of three producing field interests and the planned future growth of Serica’s North Sea operations. The JV Accountant will help to grow the business including system implementation and improvement working closely with other operational functions to deliver efficient asset performance.

Main Tasks

  • Maintain the books of accounts for the joint venture licenses in accordance with Joint Operating Agreements (JOAs) and applicable accounting standards
  • Apply corporate control processes and procedures
  • Work closely with colleagues across Finance, Commercial and Operations functions
  • Adhere to the time lines set out within JOA provisions and internal reporting timetables
  • Carry out month end close procedures including bank account reconciliations, accruals, value of work done, inventory control  and other journal entries
  • Prepare cost share and tariff calculations
  • Prepare and issue joint venture billings and cash calls
  • Meet the needs of statutory and joint venture audits
  • Contribute to continuing improvement of systems and procedures
  • Ad hoc reporting and communication as may be required from time to time 

Professional Skills

Essential:
  • Good knowledge/experience of JV accounting practices
  • Understanding of accounting principles, JOAs and industry guidance
  • Good communication (both verbal & written) in English and team working skills
  • Ability  to plan and manage workload within challenging timetable
  • Good knowledge of North Sea operated joint venture accounting

Education Requirements

Essential:
  • An accounting qualification or alternatively qualified by relevant experience
  • Strong MS Excel and Word skills with experience in Sun Finance
Desirable:
  • Familiarity with Sun Finance accounting system
