Role Purpose

Senior Petroleum Engineer is responsible for maximising the recovery from the well stock. This happens by:
  • Optimisation of production from the existing well stock within reservoir, well, plant and export constrains (Formerly done by the ACE PE Role)
  • Identification and progression of well production enhancement opportunities (Formerly done by Opportunity Progression PE)

Main Tasks

Former ACE PE Role

  • Ensure the Depletion plan is followed and enacted during daily production operations by, (1) acting as the point of integration between the subsurface, onshore and offshore production teams, and (2) building relationships within the Asset onshore and offshore ACE teams and functional support teams
  • Act as advisor in the ACE (Advanced Collaborative Environment) Team, responsible for attending Production/Injection operations
  • Identify and pursue Production/Injection Optimisation opportunities and ensure safe, compliant and reliable operations
  • Provide operational support to the activities underpinned by the Base Management Common Process (System Optimisation, Well Management, Reservoir Management), including the execution of the surveillance plan and wellwork activities
  • Participate in asset deferrals review meetings, influence the validation of reservoir and well deferrals and identify options for eliminating future losses
  • Ensure each and all deferrals allocated to the R&W chokes are coded accurately in the PEI tool.
  • Maintaining Field Offtake Instructions
  • Optimising production within safety and operational constraints
  • Ensuring adherence to WDOL and RDOL limits
  • Monitoring well performance and system performance for production restoration/enhancement opportunities

Added responsibilities for Opportunity Progression PE

  • Build the business case & progress topside and subsurface production improvement/repair opportunities
  • Prioritise opportunities and maintain wellwork hopper
  • Generates SORs (Statement of Requirement) for all well activities
  • Oversee & support the execution of well activities
  • Lead the preparation process and implementation of Well Reviews
  • Generate annual surveillance plans
  • Provide Petroleum Engineering support to the new well delivery process
  • Update and control well PROSPER models
  • Support the reservoir engineer in 8Q production forecast
  • Lead 5-why and Root Cause Failure analysis for Reservoir and Well deferrals
  • Prepare input for partners meetings and annual production reports (OGA etc.)
  • Provide information for 3rd party studies and take part in same 

Professional Skills

Essential:
  • Strong theoretical and practical background in petroleum engineering
  • Good knowledge of industry-standard Petroleum Engineering software such as: Petroleum Experts suite (Prosper and GAP required, PVTp and MBal);
  • Familiarity with PVT analysis & interpretation
  • Familiarity with production chemistry issues associated with mature gas reservoirs
  • Familiarity with well and plant optimisation strategies
  • Experience and detailed understanding of Offshore well intervention operations, production operations, facilities optimisation and artificial lift techniques (gas lift, ESP, etc.)
  • Good understanding of well and completion construction and architecture
  • Good understanding of well integrity
Desirable:
  • Familiarity with rock mechanical issues associated with hydraulic fracturing
  • Familiarity with cased hole logging principles and application
  • Familiarity with metering principles and application
  • Good awareness of latest industry innovations and technology

  • Degree in Petroleum Engineering or relevant disciplines (Chemical engineering, Applied physics)
